Senior Associate

Mick is a veteran nonprofit professional. Since his graduation with a political science degree and qualifying as a social and community worker, he has dedicated his career to working in the nonprofit sector.

Mick’s consulting work is focused on organizations embarking on major changes and the challenges associated with the dynamics of those transitions. In particular, transitions involving organizations with little or no previous experience in fund development are his forte.

Mick’s recent projects have included mentoring an environmental organization as it embarked on a revenue diversification program, a university students’ organization planning to embark on a capital fundraising project, and work on the development of a companion foundation for a business representative and advocacy organization.

Prior to becoming a consultant, Mick worked at Mount Royal College (now Mount Royal University), the Calgary Foundation, The Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and Alberta College of Art and Design.

Mick has a post-graduate degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University. In addition to using this academic background in his work, he also volunteers as an instructor with Alberta’s Board Development Program and as a member of the Advisory Council of the Immigrant Access Fund Canada.

Mick’s personal interests are in the area of arts and culture. He is particularly interested in music and has a large and varied collection of both vinyl LP’s and CD’s spanning many different musical genres.
